Challenges
Designed a solution to help students reduce transport costs in regions where ride-hailing services were unavailable. The application needed to match users based on compatible travel windows and pickup/drop-off locations while providing a simple way to coordinate shared journeys.
My Contributions
- Designed and built the cross-platform prototype with Cordova (PhoneGap).
- Implemented ride matching based on travel time windows and pickup/drop-off locations.
- Built in-app messaging and notification flows for matched users.
- Integrated a RESTful backend hosted on OpenStack for authentication and ride data management.
Outcome
Delivered a functional end-to-end proof of concept demonstrating ride matching, user authentication, notifications, and communication between passengers. The project explored solving a genuine student transport problem while showcasing early experience with mobile application architecture and backend integration.
